Spellings

Spelling

On a weekly basis, we are setting year 3 spellings for the children to learn but if your child is finding them difficult, please teach them their common exception words (there is a link on the bottom of this page).

Unfortunately, are no longer setting the spellings on Purple Mash. We are focusing on the years 3 and 4 tricky spellings words (the ones on the word mat that we sent home). The weekly spellings will now be on the weekly timetable and these are the spellings we will be focusing on in school with the key worker children.

Please encourage your children to practise their spellings – they know a variety of ways to do this!

  • Build it up
  • 2 wrongs and 1 right
  • Across and down
  • What I need to remember
  • Roll and spell - virtual die

Another resource that may also be of use to support your children with their spelling is the Phonics Play website. Children may find the games and resources from phases 3-6 useful. https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/
