To help support our children with their spellings, we will be setting regular spelling activities on the children’s Purple Mash accounts.
We have set weekly spellings for your children to learn. A quiz for the weekly spellings has been set on Purple Mash for the Friday of each week.
Week commencing 23rd March: Homophones and near homophones.
here, hear, knot, not, mail, male, ball, bawl, grown, groan.
Week commencing 30th March: Homophones and near homophones.
meet, meat, bury, berry, piece, peace, break, brake, saw, sore.
All children have also been sent home with a word mat. We have also attached word mats below and word mats can be found on the Twinkl website.
Please encourage your children to practise their spellings – they know a variety of ways to do this!
- Build it up
- 2 wrongs and 1 right
- Across and down
- What I need to remember
- Roll and spell
Another resource that may also be of use to support your children with their spelling is the Phonics Play website. Children may find the games and resources from phases 3-6 useful. https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/
