Autumn 1 and 2 - World War 2
For our topic this term we will be learning about World War 2. We will learn about the events leading up to the war and what life was like for Jewish people living in Germany. We will find out about the Treaty of Versailles after WWI, and how Germany was forced to admit full responsibility, receiving many punishments. Following on from this, we will looked at the rise of Hitler and his brutal treatment towards Jewish people including some facts about the Holocaust.
In Autumn 2 we are looking forward to learning about some of the key events of the war such as the Blitz and the D-day landings. We will also learn more about the role of women in the war and find out how the war ended. We will finish our topic with a VE day celebration!
We had a fantastic time during our World War 2 experience day! We learnt about so many different things, from rationing and life on the home front to weapons, uniforms and even photography! We got to take part in sounding an air-raid siren, playing horse shoes and so much more! A very special thankyou to Mr Field and his team of visitors for providing such a memorable experience.
