Spring / Summer Rainforests

The Rainforests

As usual, children have been very busy in Year 5 and have been learning all about the world's Rainforests, and how important they are to us.

This term, children have also enjoyed taking part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

The Coronation of King Charles III

Children have been keeping up to date with the Coronation of King Charles III. We were very lucky that the rain held off just long enough for us all to enjoy a picnic out on the playground. Year 5s also took part in a range of different activities and kept up to date by watching the Newsround Special.

Aldercar High School Visit

Year 5 children enjoyed a visit to Aldercar High School and for many, this was the first time they had been in a secondary school. Children took part in a number of different enrichment activities, including sports, drama and moral dilemmas. This was a fantastic opportunity for all children and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

PSHE - First Aid

Children spent the day learning all about First Aid. They practised what to do in the event of something happening and learned how to put someone in the recovery position. Alongside this, they also discovered how to help someone who may be choking, who has a burn or scald and also the signs to look out for that someone's condition may be getting worse.

World Book Day

As part of our World Book Day activities, we were very lucky to enjoy a wonderful performance of The Hobbit.

Dodgeball Competition

Children from across the school were given the opportunity to take part in a Dodgeball competition within school. All Year 5s participated and thoroughly enjoyed a break from our recent assessments.

West End Workshop

We were very lucky to take part in a drama and dance workshop which was run by a West End star. We performed scenes and dances based around Aladdin.
