Spring 1 - This half term our topic is 'Tell Me a Story'
This half term the children will be focusing on traditional tales and favourite stories. We start the half term with learning all about the season winter and then start our ‘Tell me a Story’ theme. The children will begin with some traditional tales and stories, including The Little Red Hen, The Three Billy Goats Gruff and Jack and the Beanstalk. The children will then choose their own favourite themes and stories leading up to the end of the half term. All the way through the half term the children will take part in different activities relating to our focus stories as well as stories of their own choosing.
The children will also continue to learn all about the different parts of a book including the front cover, back cover, spine, blurb (which tells us a little bit about the story), the title and the author – the children will know some of these already so please ask them when you share stories at home J.
We continue to learn about different celebrations throughout the year and this half term the children will be learning all about how people celebrate Chinese New Year – This year will be the year of the Rabbit.
The children will continue to have a wide variety of learning opportunities though our continuous provision both indoors and outdoors and will be encouraged to share their interests and favourite things with us.
