Savage Stone Age
Our Savage Stone Age Topic
Throughout Autumn 2 and Spring 1, Year 3 will be learning lots about the Stone Age.
During Autumn term 2, we started our exciting topic called 'The Savage Stone Age'. We had lots of fun reading the Stone Age Boy and we learnt lots about how the Neanderthal’s lived, what they ate, where they lived and the tools they used for living and hunting.
We made our own Neolithic Stone Age round houses in art using straws, hay and paint. Once we had made our houses, we created Stone Age house brochures and we were lucky to have a visit from Year 5, who helped us to write our fantastic brochures! They were very impressed.
To kick start Spring 1, we had a WOW day where we made music to the Stone Age story ‘How to wash a woolly mammoth’ and choreographed some Stone Age dances. We had lots of fun!
We have started Spring term 1 off with our new book called 'How to wash a woolly mammoth'. Firstly, learnt about mammoths so that we could become mammoth experts. To learn how to write instructions, we followed instructions on how to make a woolly mammoth. We have now written our own instructions for how we think a woolly mammoth should be washed.
